​The main use of the Francois Lake Forestry Camp is to house and feed Forest Fire Operation personnel working on fires in proximity to the Francois Lake area. Recently the camp was used to host a meeting of aboriginal governments and the GNWT and it is expected there may be similar events occurring there in the future. The site is also used to store jet a av gas fuel drums for future aircraft use.
