Join us for MVRMA Closure and Reclamation workshop - June 8-9

The Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board (MVLWB) will be hosting its second virtual workshop of 2022 in an effort to help residents become more familiar with the co-management system.

On June 8 and 9, we are inviting members of the public to attend a series of talks from Traditional Knowledge Holders and other experts about the closure and reclamation process

The registration deadline for the workshop is at the end of the day on June 6. 

Events on both days will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. MDT and a Zoom link will be provided in advance.

Topics over the two days will include the role of Traditional Knowledge in closure planning and an overview of the closure planning framework within the Mackenzie Valley. 

There will also be discussion from industry professionals about their experience overcoming the main challenges of progressive reclamation. 

Representatives from the GNWT will talk about how security is managed and Board staff will discuss some of the upcoming initiatives to advance closure and reclamation planning.

Future workshops

The Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board also has planned virtual workshops in the coming months. 

They include Engagement Guidelines on Sept. 28 and 29 and How Decision Making within the Co-Management System is Adapting to Climate Change, Dec. 14 and 15.
