Welcome aboard!

As we welcome new staff, we are also saying goodbye to our Executive Director, Willard Hagen.  We congratulate Willard on his new appointment as the Deputy Minister of Lands with the Government of the Northwest Territories.  In addition to being our Executive Director, Willard spent eleven years as the Chair of the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board, and before that as the Chair of the Gwich’in Land and Water Board.  He has worked tirelessly throughout his career with this Board and other organizations in the North to help create and shape many of the laws and policies which govern land and water use in the Territory today. We would like to express our thanks and we wish Willard well in his new position.

Beginning June 27th, 2016, Rebecca Chouinard (the Regulatory & Technical Director) will be the Acting Executive Director of the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board. Rebecca has been with the Land and Water Boards of the Mackenzie Valley since 2009. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Environmental Science, and a Masters degree in Mining Engineering.
