Violet Camsell-Blondin

Chair of the Wek’èezhìi Land and Water Board

Violet is a Tłįcho citizen, was born and raised in Behchoko, and completed high-school in Yellowknife.  Continuing education has been important to Violet who completed a General Management Certificate Program through the University of Lethbridge, as well as numerous other business and community administration courses.  Before being appointed to the Wek’èezhìi Land and Water Board, Violet was the coordinator for the Dogrib Renewable Resources Committee. Some of Violet’s experiences also include being Executive Director for the Dogrib Treaty 11 Council, providing administrative support for the finalization of the Tłįcho Government and Land Claims Agreement, and being a member of the West Kitikmeot Slave Study Society which conducted traditional knowledge and scientific research. In addition to her current work for the WLWB, Violet is Executive Director for the Behchoko Friendship Centre.
